Finished, Completed, and Done

The whirlwind and the maelstrom
are finally and completely done
Which one of us believes it?
I look around, not one

of us is ready to accept
what we've been waiting years to do.
Dazed and dizzy, the time's flown by
and high school's almost through

With tears waiting in out star bright eyes
And with sadness in our hearts
We leave the school in younger hands
And hope they do their part

Friends were lost, but more were made
In classes through the years
We'll hold them close, one last time
and smile through the tears.

We'll miss it, yes, how much though,
we're not quite sure just yet
Cherishing our old friends
and remembering some that we've just met.

So here we are, starting off
as our four years here end
The start of a journey they call life
through the straight paths and the bends.

And late in life, when our memories fade
And high school years are dim and dark
We can all look back, quite far back
and hope we've left our mark.

But for now, let's smile and laugh
and enjoy the time we've got
And let's hope this senior year's
As much fun as we thought.
