A dark forest pool
Deep in the night
the falls drip softly
in the soft moonlight

the deep black of the pool
and the shining full moon
If only deep water protected
I'd submerge myself soon

inside I'm wrong
something's awry
like i've got one white orb
and one black eye

screw all pain
take advantage
their loss; your gain

Reflecting pool
so calm outside
pretty reflection
hides a horrible bride

Of the torrent beneath
two sides of a coin
where one ends
the other side joins

Illusions of grandeur
and a grander façade
to her wonderful act
Crowds would applaud

Led right along
like a donkey on a string
played up emotions
don't mean a damn thing

Illusions of mist
blown away by the wind
Smiles and laughs
but still more for him

Cut all my ties
abandon all hope
cut this relationship
like an old fraying rope

Put up with her though
fake smile and plastic eyes
grin at her mistakes
see through the lies

That she doesn't mean to tell
in her body, in her smile
just laugh and nod
and choke back the bile

see what everyone else saw
become a mannequin of the world
lifeless and stiff
'cause of one damn girl

Or more than one
depends on who you ask
kick back again
and take another swig straight from the flask

You still like her though
much as you hate to admit
one chance with her
and you'd go through all this shit

cling to false hope
like an alkie to his bottle
turn your hormones down
take your hand off of the throttle

and a huge loser too
to think that some one like her

So cling to your voices
and those words upon the screen
sit and watch him

with envy
eyes red with lust
Keep the emotions on the inside
let the pen and paper rust

and just give up

Ignore the lovely knife
