Faces in the Crowd

So many people, so many faces
Pass me as I walk
Smiling & laughing & frowning and walking
Caught up in their personal talk

There are so many beautiful faces
of the ladies now I speak
Beauty takes on many forms
Long hair or a rosy cheek

Beauty is not just blonde hair
Fake breasts and a plastic smile
Its not in the hair the clothes, the shoes
Or even ones sense of style

Beauty is in everyone
Their face, their hands, their feet
And what they show you on TV
Make up makes up deceit

Beauty is the shyly smiling
Girl across the room
Who, with some time, invested effort
Is a bud that will surely bloom

Beauty is an eyelash
And those deep dark dazzling eyes
Its in the tears that roll down here cheek
At every movie where she cries

Beauty's when she thinks
That she is all alone
No self conscious twitterings
As you watch her there, unknown

When she's on the playing field
Or up there on the stage
Doing something that she loves
Its like a dove freed from its cage

Beauty is in every woman
In a thousand different ways
And I hope that I can always find it
Until the end of my long days
