Blossoms
For Marcia
An aged trunk,
grown tall with
the passing seasons,
blows gently in the
wind.
Her boughs are strong
and there are leaves aplenty
brushing softly like
rustling rose petals.
A long year has
passed since blossoms
graced this mighty tree.
Long are the nights she sits
in the unlovely
silence of dark,
casting a shadow
of loneliness in
the moonlight.
But today
Spring is fresh upon
us and the air
is lovely again.
Our tree, once handsome
in green, shines
beautiful in blossoms.
lilting birdsong fills
the air and sunlight
is her cape. Smiling
she stretches her limbs
against the cerulean sky
to embrace her
new-found change.
