Giants and Wasps

The gentle giant blinked
and with his hands like soft slabs of stone
swatted the wasps from the sky
then with a resigned shrug
he slipped the difficult burden of fate back onto his shoulders
and began the end

But the wasps were not so be so easily denied
they had smelled the giant's blood
and had seen his easy weakness behind his powerful façade
they attacked again and again
jerky and unsteady
but an advancing horde that would not be ignored

In the end it was the giant who won the day
his steady hands and powerful hands could not be thwarted
as he crushed the wasps one by one
weak and off balance he finished them
and tottered away on two tired legs
