Intrigued

You are new to me,
and I smile for this.
Your grace: the wind through the branches of autumn trees
sweeping past my feet and setting leaves to dancing in its wake.
Your eyes: two jewels in the candle light;
sparkling to themselves with a secret all their own.
Your smile: charm redefined. At once the parting of lips
and a small story of laughter and happiness.

But it is your silence that intrigues me.
What your eyes see that mine cannot,
what your ears hear, that mine are deaf to.
The thoughts you think that I will never know.
What do you imagine as you watch the world go by?

Do you imagine that there is a world with you at its middle,
spinning around you in all your beauty and grace?
I do. For if the world should choose anyone
to spin itself about, it would take but a smile
and a quiet word from your soft lips to bend
the pliant earth around you.

But I doubt that you imagine this at all.
So let my words serve to remind you.
You are beautiful, and I am intrigued.
