Her, Him, and Me

I am a builder of dreams.
Long pieces of sparkling fantasy
nailed together with rusty spikes of forlorn hope.

I am an architect of castles in the sky.
Rough stones replaces by squares of fluff and cloud,
locked into a single piece with a mortar of smoke and illusion.

I am the king of impossible situations,
and a master of silent wishes.

I am a thief of moments,
and a rat in the gutter of bad dreams,
and worse dreams come true.

He is a clown and an imposter.
He's taken my name and stolen my girl,
all in one fell swoop.

She is gone before I had her,
and still beautiful,
with a crooked tooth and perfect feet.

I am a man who waited one day too long,
who opened his heart one day too soon,
and closed another door forevermore.
